LBDI's Board Appoints New Comptroller

             Mr. John B. S. Davies, III

 

 First Among Equals
The Board of Directors of the Liberian Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) has appointed Mr. John B. S. Davies III Comptroller/Executive Vice President Finance and Administration of the Bank.  Mr. Davies takes over from Mrs. Elfrieda Stewart Tamba who currently serves Liberia as Deputy Minister of Finance for Revenue.

 

Prior to his new appointment, Mr. Davies served as Chief Accountant and Vice President Accounts Department for 7 years.  He had held other positions in LBDI including Officer-in-Charge of LBDI’s Bushrod Island branch, Head of Customer Services and Internal Auditor.

 

Mr. Davies is a product of LBDI’s Young Professional Program which targets recruitment of the best and brightest graduates of the business colleges in Liberia’s leading universities.  He holds a Masters of Accounting Degree from the Jack Massey Graduate School, Belmont University, Nashville Tennessee with distinction setting the record as the student with the fastest completion record of the time since the inception of the graduate school.  His studies were funded through a scholarship granted by LBDI.

 

Mr. Davies is a 1998 Graduate (Magna Cum Laude) of the College of Business, University of Liberia.  He is the salutorian of the 1989 class of the St. Peter Claver’s Catholic School, Buchanan, and Grand Bassa County.

 

John B. S. Davies is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Transparency CENTAL.  He is a member of the Board of Deacons Trumpet of Praise Tabernacle (PCAF) Church.  Mr. Davies is married to Mrs. Irene Coleman Davies; the couple have an 8 year old son, John Promise Davies.

 

LBDI, the only Liberian Bank with more than 42 years of market experience has structured loans to which have helped to restore limited services and business in post conflict Liberia.  The Bank provides a full range of products including a US$2 million trade finance facility extended to it by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, to support businesses access credit and finance to pay for goods imported into Liberia.

 

In October 2007, LBDI opened a new branch in the port city of Buchanan.  The Bank now has 8 branches located in strategic localities across the country including Monrovia, Ganta and Harbel.
